Reliving childhood with Crash Team Racing

I have to say, Activision have done it again!

I was a little bit nervous when it was announced a few years back that the original Crash Bandicoot trilogy was being remastered for current generation consoles, mainly because it’s one of my all-time favourite game series and the games that I think got me into gaming.

The remastered Crash games are excellent, so good in fact that after completing them on the Xbox One, I went and bought the remastered trilogy on Nintendo Switch as well so I could play the games on the go.

Then comes along Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fuelled, a remastered version of the classic racing game that I LOVED playing as a child.

For the new remaster, I’ve chosen to get it on Nintendo Switch so I can play when I like and play against friends on the go! I know there will be many out there arguing that Mario Kart is the only arcade racing game to play on the Switch, and I often play and enjoy Mario Kart, but for me, it was always about Crash Team Racing.

Growing up with a PS1 as the primary console in our family meant that Mario Kart was a game reserved for playing at my friend’s houses, while Crash Team Racing was a big part of my childhood.

I’ve only played a couple of races on the new game, but even from those few races, the nostalgia and excitement is all there! It just plays so nicely and looks so good.

The sliding round corners, smashing through boxes, shooting missiles and dropping TNT boxes, even just writing about it makes me want to play the game!

It’s a game that’s fun to play friends and a game that’s fun to play on your own with so many characters, carts, stickers and all the like to collect, there’s a lot of replayability in the game and it will keep you entertained for hours.

If you played the original, you’ll love it, if you’ve never played it before, you’ll love it, basically, you’ve love it!
