It’s not all that often that I stop gaming for more than a couple of days. It’s a hobby, I enjoy it, so why stop?
In all honesty, the only reasons that I ever really put down the controller are: Holidays, busy social calendar or, the hardest one to overcome; lack of excitement for the games I have.
On this occasion, the reason for the week long hiatus is holiday, a skiing trip, to be precise – another hobby of mine! But, with the holiday over and returning back to normality, work included, gaming has been weighing heavily on my mind.
As sad as it may sound, I often look forward to jumping back on my Xbox, PC or Switch after a holiday and it usually comes with some silly profound thinking that I suddenly know how I can be better at gaming.
Well, on this occasion, there has been no such moment. Sure, I’m happy to jump on and play some games, namely CoD: Modern Warfare and Rocket League at the moment, both solid games, but I don’t have that excitement that I usually get.
It might just be the lack of new games, and one way to fix that is to just pick a few games on the Xbox Games Pass and try them out. And actually, one game I always get excited for when I start playing it is Halo! So maybe I need to get organised and play some Halo.
The thing that strikes me is how much of a 1st world problem this really is – I’ve been on holiday and now I don’t know what to play, boo hoo, right?
